Mary Alice Singer, 93, of Defiance, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Kingsbury Place, Defiance, where she was a resident. Mary Alice was born December 19, 1927, in Payne Ohio, the daughter of the late Henry and Florence (Sheehan) Linder. She was a 1945 graduate of Payne High School. Mary Alice married Francis A. Singer on April 7, 1951, in Hicksville, Ohio and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2019. She was a homemaker, always making sure things were taken care of around the house and providing for her family and a host to many. Mary Alice was known for her smile and was a constant ray of happiness. She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church-The Bend, where she served on the Altar Rosary Society. Mary Alice was a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels, Red Cross Blood Drive, Fairview Athletic Boosters, and a member of the Delaware Township Board of Elections.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda (David) Meredith of Uniontown, Pennsylvania and Susan (Jay) Mauter of Toledo, Ohio; four sons, Michael (Phyllis) Singer of Red Bank, New Jersey, Steve (Sheri) Singer of Elida, Ohio, Rick (Susan) Singer of Bluffton, Indiana and Jamie (Jackie) Singer of Defiance, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Blosser of Kansas City, Missouri, Henrietta Slattery of Hicksville, Ohio and Rose Tremains of Bellefontaine, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Nathalie Linder of Michigan and Joan Linder of Hicksville, Ohio. Mary Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Francis A. Singer; two brothers, Robert Linder, and Francis Linder; infant brother, Richard Linder; sister, Madeline Linder.
Visitation for Mary Alice Singer will be held Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Alice will be held Thursday, July 15, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church-The Bend with Father Melwin D’Szouza officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
