Mary E. Bowman, 81

Mary E. Bowman, 81, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, at Cape Coral Hospital.  She was born October 27, 1939, in Findlay, Ohio, the daughter of the late Orville A. and Golda M. (Raymond) Bowman.  Mary was born the fifth of six children and named after her beloved grandmothers.  She attended Findlay Senior High School, Findlay, Ohio, with the class of 1959.  Mary enjoyed working as a security guard in Cape Coral and was proud of her certification as a Notary Public, which she used often, performing weddings and notarizing documents.

Mary was a faithful Christian her whole life, attending the United Methodist Church, first in Findlay, Ohio, and then in Cape Coral, Florida.  Mary volunteered with the church in many ways, including singing in the choir, helping serve beverages at special meals, and serving at UMC General Conferences.  Mary had a knack for important family dates and anniversaries and was responsible for creating the annual family calendar.  When asked how she was doing, Mary would often reply “still kicking”, and always ended conversations with “God Bless”.  The family would like to give a special thanks to Mary’s nurse Ana, who helped make her comfortable in her final years.

Mary is survived by her siblings, Joann Strauch of Wooster, Ohio, Ivan Bowman and special friend Betty Phillips of Cary, North Carolina, and Martha (Benny) Bartels-Kurzhals of Edwardsburg, Michigan; sister-in-law, Nancy Bowman of Findlay, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Allora Arnold; and brother, John Bowman.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral services held at this time.  Interment will be in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity, Ohio.  Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, Ohio.

The family asks those that would like to remember Mary, make memorial contributions to Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, 4118 Coronado Parkway, Cape Coral, Florida 33904.

Condolences may be sent to the family, or the online guestbook may be signed at www.oberlinturnbull.com
