Mary K. Carlson, 82, of Pioneer passed away Tuesday morning at Genesis Health Care Center in Bryan. She was born on January 27, 1935 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to Paul and Freida (Kurtz) Orthwein. Mary married Earl Carlson and he preceded her in death. She worked as a home health aide and at Kindler’s Flower Shop both in Montpelier, she also worked on the family farm.
She is survived by her four children, Steven E. Carlson of Pioneer, Annette (Greg) Heller of Pioneer, Eric (Therese) Carlson of Butler, Indiana, and Andrew (Julie) Carlson of Pioneer; five grandchildren, Dustin Heller, Nick and Jacqueline Carlson and Cain and Katie Carlson; two great grandchildren Kadence Heller and Norah Carlson; and one sister Helen (Charles) Fisher of Findlay, Ohio.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl Carlson and an infant daughter Amy Sue Carlson.
Visitation for Mary will be on Thursday, January 11 from 3-7 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. Services will be on Friday at 11 am at the Pioneer United Methodist Church with Pastor Ruth Solo to officiate. Interment will follow at the Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer. Memorial contributions may be made to Williams County Home Health Care or Pioneer United Methodist Church.
