Mary L. Henderson, 69, of Angola, Indiana and formerly of Jackson, Michigan passed away at her home on Thursday. She was born on September 13, 1946 in Wauseon, Ohio to Augustus Clair and Berniece Marie (Brown) Swank. Mary graduated from Reading High School in Reading, Michigan in 1964. On September 21, 1974 she married Robert D. Henderson and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2004.
Mary retired from Jackson State Prison in Jackson, Michigan. She also worked at Mohawk Tools in Montpelier for a few years. Mary was a family person, a very giving and loving individual. She loved flowers, birds and squirrels; and doing crafts in her home.
She is survived by her mother Berniece M. Wasnich of Pioneer; three sisters, Sharon (Billy) Fraley of Angola, Indiana, Myrtle (Deane Driver) Swank of Pioneer, and Beverly (James) Hudson of Montgomery, Michigan; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her father and husband Robert.
Visitation for Mary will be on Sunday, March 13th from 12-2pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. There will be a private interment at Floral Grove Cemetery in Pioneer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Project Help, 711 E. Harcourt Rd. Angola, IN 46703 or to donor’s choice.
