Born on September 28,1931, to Russell and Freda (Huebner) Proxmire of Paulding, Ohio. She graduated from Latty High School in 1949. On May 12,1951, she was united in marriage with Edwin Fogle. Together they shared 3 daughters and 37 years of marriage on their farm on Breininger Rd until his sudden and untimely death on August 1, 1988, at the age of 60.
Mary worked for Central Local School District as an office secretary for 23 years, 16 years at Mark Elementary and 7 years at Fairview Middle School.
She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church; first in Briceton, Ohio, and then in Hicksville. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo at the Senior Center in Hicksville every week. Mary also enjoyed traveling, polka dancing and spending time with her family.
In addition to Edwin, Mary was greeted in heaven by a lifetime of friends and family. She was preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Proxmire and his wife Donna Dean (Arend); her sister-in-law, Darlene (Fogle) Eisenmann and her husband Eugene; her brother-in-law, F. Richard Fogle and his wife, Carol (Howard); and her grandson Phillip Cook.
Mary is survived by her sister Barbara Bomar (George) of Fountain Inn, South Carolina. In addition, her 3 daughters, Cindy Cook (Wayne) of Baltimore, Maryland, Debbie Walters (Ed) of Hicksville, and Lori Fogle of Columbus. Grandchildren Elliott and Seth Cook (Casi), Heather Briskey Blair, and Hayley Briskey Speiser (Randy), Paul Walters (Misty) and Jamie Walters. Great grandchildren Karli Blair, Kaden Blair, and Kyler Blair (Jenna), Brynley, Easton and Grady Walters, Great-Great grandchild Harper Blair Ratliff.
Visitation for Mary Fogle will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville. Funeral services for Mary will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in St. John Lutheran Church, 812 East High Street, Hicksville, with Alex Heffelfinger, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Lehman Cemetery, Payne, Ohio, at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.
