Mason D. “Dean” Demland, 82

Mason D. “Dean” Demland, 82, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio, with his family at his side. Dean was born August 19, 1941, in Defiance, Ohio, the son of the late Claude W. and Margaret K. (Miller) Demland.  He attended Defiance City Schools. Dean married Judith A. Davis on June 19, 1971, in Defiance, and she preceded him in death on March 19, 2012.  He worked at General Motors, retiring in 1991 with 27 years of service.  In retirement, Dean worked at Noah Yoder Ford and at the Super Wash, both in Hicksville.  Dean was a diehard Ohio State Buckeye fan, and also enjoyed rooting on the Cleveland Browns and watching NASCAR.

Surviving are his four children, Michele (Bob) Bussing of Defiance, Todd (Connie) Demland of Defiance, Brian (Heather) Demland of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Misty (Dan) DeSota of Oakwood; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judith; a brother, Chet Demland; and a sister, Judy Relyea.

Visitation for Mason D. “Dean” Demland will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, where an Eagle Ritual will begin at 7:00 P.M.  Funeral services for Mason will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, in the funeral home with Pastor Jerold Tear officiating.  There will be an additional hour of visitation prior to the start of the funeral.  The family welcomes anyone attending funeral services for Dean to wear their favorite Ohio State Buckeye or Cleveland Browns gear.  Interment will follow in Forest Home Cemetery.
