Merle Oakley Koeppe, 97

Merle Oakley Koeppe, age 97, of Evansport, passed away Monday morning, June 12, 2017, at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. Prior to his retirement he had been a carpenter.

Merle was born in Tiffin Township, Defiance County, Ohio on April 19, 1920, the son of Otto and Esther (Sines) Koeppe. On November 16, 1946, he married Orma Schlosser, and she preceded him in death in 2014. He was a member of the Evansport United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Tiffin Township Fire Department for 51 years, the Evansport Fox Club, and was honorary mayor of Evansport.

Surviving is his son, Craig (Debra) Koeppe of Archbold; two daughters, Sue Speiser of Evansport and Lora Koeppe of Evansport; grandchildren, Kristi Gonzalez, Chadd Speiser, Angela Riley, Jordan Koeppe, Cory Salisbury, Casey Salisbury; great-grandchildren, Oakley, Skylar, Remington, Stone, Slade, Piper, Madison, Jarren, and Vaughn; and great-great-grandson, Zane. He is also survived by his niece, Ura Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Orma; two daughters, Kim Koeppe and Marilyn Partee; grandchildren, Curtice and Codi Partee; two sisters, Zola Elliot and Lillian Lybarger; and brother, Olin Koeppe.

Visitation for Merle will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the Grisier Funeral Home in Stryker, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, with Pastor Becky Ploughe, officiating. Interment will follow in the Evansport Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Tiffin Township Fire Department, the Evansport Playground Fund, or CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice.
