Michael Porter, 77

Michael B. Porter, 77, of Hicksville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Vancrest of Hicksville.  Michael was born April 27, 1946, in Bath, New York, the son of the late Harold B. and Leda M. (Chace) Porter, Sr.  He was a 1964 graduate of Haverling Central School – Bath, New York.  Michael married Rosalee B. Wurster on November 26, 2011, in Waterloo, Indiana, and she preceded him in death on November 13, 2020.  He worked as a Security Officer for the State of Louisiana for 35 years.  Michael was a member of Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Farmer, Ohio.  In his free time, Michael enjoyed watching NASCAR and college football, and spending time with his dog “Baby”.

He is survived by his seven daughters, Laura (Greg Barnes) Smalt of Bath, New York, Lori (Stacy Stevenson) Grunden of Van Wert, Ohio, Melinda Wilson of Bryan, Ohio, Tracie (Mario) Salazar of Odessa, Texas, Amy (Marc) Rumphf of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lisa (Doug) Harter of Auburn, Indiana, and Leslie McCain of Hicksville, Ohio; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry (Deb) Porter of Rhode Island, New York, and Harold “Bud” (Joan) Porter of Painted Post, New York.  Michael was preceded in death by his parents; and by his wife, Rosalee.

Visitation for Michael B. Porter will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, Ohio 43526.  A Memorial Service will immediately follow in the funeral home beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Celebrant Patricia Peter officiating.
