Mildred E. Daugherty, age 86, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at Genesis HealthCare in Bryan, where she had been a resident. Mrs. Daugherty was a member of First Baptist Church in Bryan, where she had been a Sunday School teacher and member of the Ladies Missionary Circle. She was a graduate of Mark Center High School and was a homemaker most of her life. Mildred was born on March 15, 1927, in Sherwood, Ohio, the daughter of Frank and Georgia (DeFreece) Etchey. She married E. Paul Daugherty on May 7, 1971, in Coldwater, Michigan, and he survives. Mildred is also survived by her children, Linda (Dean) Caryer, of Sherwood, Lynn “Ed” (Marcia) Porath, of Sherwood, and Sheri (John) McCoy, of Defiance; stepchildren, Sherri Green, of Bryan, and Stanton Daugherty, of Armonk, New York; eight grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and her sisters, Nadine Coy, of Bryan, Lois Corwin, of Defiance, and Shirley (Don) Ridenour, of Hicksville. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, June Porath; daughter, Sally Rast; infant children, Gary and Susan Porath; stepdaughter, Cynthia Cliffton; and brothers, Vernon and Ray Etchey.
Funeral services for Mildred E. Daugherty will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, in the First Baptist Church with Pastor John MacFarlane officiating. Burial will follow at Farmer Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00-6:00 P.M. on Friday, January 10, 2014, at First Baptist Church and again on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan, Ohio, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
