MILDRED L. “MILLIE” WEANER, 89

MILDRED L. “MILLIE” WEANER, age 89, of Sherwood, Ohio, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 7 at her residence. She was born in Defiance County’s Mark Township on March 6, 1928, to the late Charles O. and Olive (Hosler) Reeb, and graduated from Mark Center School in 1946. Millie and William J. “Bill” Weaner were married on June 30, 1951 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Delaware Bend. Bill preceded her in death in May, 2013. She worked numerous years at All-Star Radio Products in Defiance and was also a full-time homemaker. Millie was an active member of the St. Stephen’s Altar Rosary Society and the Black Swamp Audubon Society throughout the years. During the 70’s and 80’s, she served as the Black Swamp’s secretary. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, summer fishing vacations in Michigan and bird watching year-round. Millie’s grape pies always brought top bid at the annual Audubon fundraiser. Her and Bill’s love of nature was instilled in their sons, David and Mark.

Along with husband Bill, preceding her in death were her sisters, Hazel Bryan in 1972, Thelma Daniels in 2006 and O. Marie Fager in 2007. Surviving are her two sons, David of Westerville, Ohio and Mark of Miami, Florida.

Visitation for Mildred L. “MILLIE” Weaner will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017, at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm St., Sherwood, with the recitation of the Rosary beginning at 7:45p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at St. Isidore’s Delaware Bend Catholic Church, 16248 Speaker Road, Defiance, with Fr. John Stites officiating. Interment will in Sherwood Cemetery.
