Millard “Mike” C. Scranton, 90

Millard C. Scranton passed away on September 8, 2024. Millard “Mike” Scranton was born on August 10, 1934, to the late Walter and Wilma Scranton in Milford Township, Ohio. He was the second of five children. Mike graduated from Farmer High School in 1952. He married Sue Carrol (Carter) Scranton on July 3, 1954, and they had 4 children.

Mike worked at a local factory for 35 years. He later drove truck delivering campers, which he greatly enjoyed while traveling the country with his wife.

Mike loved working with his hands. He and Sue bought land off of 49 near Hicksville in 1960, where with the help of his parents, they built the family home. He dabbled in woodworking, hunting, and gun making. Mike’s craftsmanship formed a bond with his family, many of whom also love to create because of his example. Mike always had rows and rows of plants and flowers in his garden at home. He and all his grandchildren adored visiting the backyard garden and picking vegetables to eat. Mike and his family had a Relay For Life team in Hicksville for many years. They celebrated cancer survivors and honored loved ones through selling homemade cinnamon rolls and bread (which Mike loved baking).

Mike will be greatly missed by his wife, Sue; sister Anna (Earl) Crall of Hicksville, OH; brother Carl Scranton of Amelia, OH; brother-in-law, Eddie Perry of Antwerp, OH; daughter, Karen (Greg) Byce of Munith, MI; son, Michael (Toni) Scranton and son-in-law, Phil Cleland of Hicksville, OH; son, Brian (Katy) Scranton of Wabash, IN; and his 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Muriel Andrews and Gwen Perry; brother-in-law, James Andrews; sister-in-law, Artis Scranton; daughter, Loretta Cleland; daughter in laws, Holly Scranton and Penny Scranton; and granddaughter, Rachel Scranton.

In accordance with Mike’s wishes, a private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Memorials can be made to Relay For Life.
