Minyard “Tom” Richmond, Jr., 77

Minyard Thomas Richmond, Jr., 77, of Pioneer, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. He was born on July 17, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio to Minyard Thomas Richmond, Sr. and Dorothy G. (Toth) Richmond. Tom graduated from Libbey High School in South Toledo in 1964. After graduation, he honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, spending two years overseas from 1964-1966. On April 26, 1989 Tom married Jammie E. Wooten at Pioneer United Methodist Church and she survives.

Tom worked as the branch manager of ABF Freight in Toledo, retiring after over 30 years in 2009. He was a member of the Pioneer American Legion Post 307, the Montpelier Moose and was on the Pioneer Planning Commission for 10 years. Tom was an avid bowler and golfer, who enjoyed years of participating in competitive leagues. He was an Ohio State Buckeyes Fan and a die-hard basketball fan, and enjoyed watching his son, Tommy and grandson Zeke play every chance he got. He was also incredibly proud of the many achievements of his three beautiful granddaughters. Tom loved spending time at the lake on the boat with his family, especially his grandchildren. He could usually be found making memories in his favorite place with his trusted dog Tucker by his side.

Tom is survived by his loving wife, Jammie E. Richmond; two children, Heather R. Shank of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Tommy (Lindsay) Richmond of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren, Adryan and Ezekeial Sanchez, Brianna and Kaylee Shank and Braylen Johnson; three sisters, Cindy Wakefield of Worthington, Ohio, Debbie Jagodzinski of Perrysburg, Ohio and Gloria (Kenny) Zoltanski of Maumee, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tiffany Fivecoate; and sister, Bonnie Blythe.

A time to receive friends will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 3:00-6:00 pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Pioneer. A celebration of Tom’s life will take place immediately following at 6:00 pm at the funeral home. Military honors will be presented by the veterans of the Pioneer American Legion. Memorials may be made in Tom’s memory to the Pioneer American Legion Post 307.
