Mona C. Klinger, 93

Mona C. Klinger, 93 years of Defiance, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, Bryan, Ohio. Mona was born January 29, 1930, in Payne, Ohio, the daughter of the late Iden Henry and Alma Leona (Paterson) Bailey. She was a 1948 graduate of Ney High School. She married Nelson Bergman on May 27, 1950, and the marriage ended. She then married Elmer R. Klinger, Jr. on June 27, 1968, in Van Wert County, and he preceded her in death on February 17, 2007. Mona was a clerk in the Defiance County Auditor’s Office for eight years. She also was a Tupperware and Avon Representative. She was a former member of the Ney United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, assisted with Vacation Bible School and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Later in life, she became a member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church. Mona had been a Girl Scout Leader as well as a 4-H Leader. Mona loved her family and spending time with them. She was always available for a card game with family or friends. She enjoyed being outside and caring for her garden and flowers. She found pleasure in eating ice cream and loving her pets. When she was younger, she loved the team of horses used on the family farm. Her favorite vice was watching the birds in her yard.

Surviving are her children, Carol (Andy) Bilbado of Defiance, Mike (Cheryl) Bergman of Sherwood, Rob (Faye) Bergman of Ney, Ramona Klinger of Defiance, Kelly (Becky) Klinger of Bryan, Ruby (Dan) Leininger of Pearce, Arizona, Ruth (Rex) Rinker of Van Buren, Ohio, Robin (Joe) Miles-Lipuma of Kingman, Arizona,  Elmer R. “Sonny” Klinger of Dallas, Oregon; eight grandchildren, 11 step grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and six step-great-great grandchildren .  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Elmer; brother, Karl Bailey; two sisters, Pauline Bartz and Doris Brillhart; great-grandson, Dustin Miles.

Memorial services for Mona C. Klinger will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan with Celebrant Patricia Peter officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends two hours prior in the funeral home, beginning at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Private interment will take place in Wiltsie Cemetery, Payne, Ohio.
