A former Montpelier village clerk who was convicted in 2012 of stealing for than $90,000 from the village, is now a free woman.
Anna Marie Stark of Montpelier, was sentenced in September 2012 to 30 months in prison after an audit revealed that Stark made 71 fraudulent billing adjustments, valued at $84,049; stole 20 customer payments for fees and deposits, valued at $4,095; and diverted final refunds of deposits for 12 customer accounts to her own use, valued at $2,021.
The total added up to more than $90,000.
As a condition of her release, Stark will spend four years on community control.
