Morris W. Towns, 97

Morris Wayne Towns, 97, of West Unity, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at CHP Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio. Morris was born May 29, 1927, in Fulton County, Ohio, the son of the late Ernest and Hermia (Kline) Towns. He served in the United States Navy in Guam during World War II from August 28, 1945, until his honorable discharge on May 17, 1946. When he returned home, he married Lillian R. Smith. They were married 66 years until her death on July 14, 2015. He worked on motors and engines since the age 14 and could fix anything mechanical. He owned his own garage in Kunkle, Ohio for a short time and drove school bus for Kunkle.  He worked at garages in Fayette and Montpelier. Morris worked at Challenge-Cook Brothers, Bryan, Ohio for 20 years until his retirement.

Surviving are his five children; Vicki Stevens of Bryan, Ohio, Holly Taylor of Pioneer, Ohio, Kay (Tim) Frank of Wadsworth, Ohio, Tim (Kim) Towns of West Unity, Ohio, Steve Towns of Archbold, Ohio; 18 Grandchildren; 34 Great-Grandchildren; 6 Great-Great Grandchildren. Morris was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian Towns; infant son, Douglas Towns; granddaughter, Victoria Lynn Towns; son-in-law, Rick Taylor; brother, Andrew Towns.

Visitation for Morris will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. at Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street, West Unity.  Funeral services will immediately begin at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Wilder officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant View Union Cemetery, Fayette.
