Nancy Sue “Susan” Figy, age 79, of Wauseon, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 12, 2015 at her home, surrounded by family. Prior to her retirement in 1998, Nancy had worked at the former McCord Corp. in Wauseon.
Nancy was born in Continental, Ohio on August 22, 1935, the daughter of Howard and Beulah (Burns) Knapp. In 1957 she married Benny Figy who preceded her in death in 2001. She enjoyed knitting, Nascar and her family.
Surviving are her children Daniel (Cherie) Figy of Wauseon, and Denise (Mike) Burgoon of Delta along with grandchildren Jayme Burgoon, Janelle Burgoon, Jenna Henricks and Danielle Figy and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is Sister-in-law Pauline Knapp of Winter Haven, Fla. and two sisters Diann (Lowell) Roth of Wauseon and Darlyn Stradling of Troy, Ohio.
Graveside services for Nancy will be held on Monday, August 17 at 11:00 am at the Wauseon Union Cemetery with Pastor Mitch Maxted officiating. The family requests that memorial contributions in Nancy’s honor be made to the American Cancer Society,the First Christian Church in Wauseon or a charity of the donor’s choice.
