In Wauseon, four-term Councilman Kathy Huner was appointed Thursday to serve as city mayor.
Huner will fill the unexpired term of Mayor Doug Shaw, who announced Oct. 6 that he will retire effective Nov. 3.
Huner is chair of the city’s safety and code committee, and is a member of the park and utility committees, and is also on the Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council.
Born and raised in Wauseon, Huner was a teacher for 29 years.
Huner lives in Wauseon with her husband, Lindsay, and has two children, Mitchell and Kaitlyn.
She will be sworn in to her new post during council’s regular session Nov. 3.
