Norma A. Lucas, 88

Norma A. Lucas, 88 years of Hicksville, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Norma was born June 14, 1935, in Antwerp, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Marguerite (Mickelson) Bickhard. She was a 1953 graduate of Antwerp High School. She married Francis “Frank” Lucas in 1954, and he preceded her in death on August 3, 1967. A young mother, with children to raise, Norma began her employment with Dana Weatherhead. She was then offered an Engineering Secretary position with Dotco, where she was a faithful employee for the next 30 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of 309 Card Club and volunteered her time with the Community Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Bargain Box. Norma had a love for flowers, and religiously tended to her plantings. She was an excellent cook and made the best pies. Norma loved to spend time with her family, making memories that will endure the test of time.

Surviving are her four children, Patti (Rob) Jones of Hicksville, Lori (David) Brown of Hicksville, Brian (Susan Tack) Lucas of Hicksville and Sheri (David) Applegate of Hicksville; eight grandchildren, Michael Lucas, Aimee (Kurtis) King, Stephen (Carolyn) Brown, Cory (Kate) Jones, Trent Jones, Lauren (Ryan) McKillip, Eric Applegate and Matt Applegate; nine great-grandchildren, Nadia, Lana and Vaughn King, Caleb and Maxwell McKillip, Samuel Brown, Easton Jones, Chance Lucas and Nikki Day.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank and one sister, Anita Stevenson.

Visitation for Norma A. Lucas will be held Monday, March 18, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 706 North Main Street, Hicksville, followed by funeral services at 1:00 p.m., Monday, in the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Doseck officiating. Interment will follow in Maumee Cemetery, Antwerp.

Memorial contributions can be given to the Hicksville Beautification Committee.
