Norma J. Hardy, age 84, of Edgerton, Ohio, died at 8:05 A.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Hickory Creek Care Center in Hicksville, Ohio, where she was a patient. A graduate of Edgerton High School, Mrs. Hardy had devoted her life to service in the mission fields. She served with her husband, Garwood, in his pastorate at Bethal Chapel in Anchorage Alaska, and then with Bayview Bible Baptist Church and Arms of Love Mission in Wasilla, Alaska. Upon moving back to Ohio, they served the Amboy Baptist Church in Camden, Michigan, and then the Lifeline Bible Baptist Church in Pioneer, Ohio. They operated Yoke Fellowship Camp near Edgerton, Ohio. She was most proud of their mission trips, three to the Ukraine, three to Cuba and one to the Fiji Islands.
Norma J. Hardy was born on June 8, 1931, in Edgerton, Ohio, the daughter of Carmen and Gladys (Robarge) Easler. She married A. Wayne Carlson and he preceded her in death on April 22, 1973. She then married Garwood G. Hardy on October 16, 1976, in Anchorage, Alaska, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 2008.
Survivors include one daughter, Christina (Raymond) Roelfs, and one son, Kim (Barbara) Carlson, both of Edgerton; six grandchildren, Jordan, Caleigh, Ean and Colton Roelfs and Joshua and Bethany Carlson; and one great-grandson, Roman Roelfs.
Services for Norma J. Hardy will be on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. in the Trinity Bible Church in Edgerton with Dr. William Haag officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation will be in the Trinity Bible Church from 4:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, October 12, 2015.
Memorials in the name of Norma J. Hardy may be given to the Independent Baptist Mission in Florida or to the Navajo Baptist Mission in New Mexico.
