Norma J. Appel, 73

Norma Jean Appel, age 73, of Edgerton, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the CHP Inpatient Hospice Center near Defiance.  Norma was a machinist at Zeller Corporation for 18 years and Aro Corporation for 15 years before her retirement.  She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Stryker, Norma enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, traveling, and watching TV.  She always enjoyed a good conversation, and spending time with her family.

Norma was born on January 15, 1950, in Defiance, Ohio, the daughter of Glenn and Norma Mary (Burkhart) Relyea.  She was a graduate of Defiance High School and International Business College where she earned degrees in Medical Assistant and Business.  She married Paul Appel on April 16, 1994 at Zion Lutheran Church and he survives.

Norma is also survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Phlipot-Pollock, of Perrysburg; son, Jason Phlipot, of Edgerton; three grandchildren, Marah Rae Pollock, Jayla Phlipot and Jemma Phlipot; and siblings, Patrick Relyea, Cecelia Relyea and Ann Bachellor, all of Defiance. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Dolores Cereghin, Janie Phlipot, Virginia, Theresa, Michael, Timothy and Mary Caroline Relyea.

Grave side funeral services were held at Farmer Cemetery with Pastor Aaron Bueltmann officiating.  Krill Funeral Service, 114 East Hull Street, Edgerton has been entrusted with Norma’s services.

Memorial contributions are requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
