Norman D. Bechtol, 75

Norman D. Bechtol, 75, of Montpelier, Ohio passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance. He was born on June 27, 1941 in Montpelier to Dale S. and Mildred R. (Henry) Bechtol. On July 27, 1968 he married Beatrice “Bea” Entrikin in Montpelier and she preceded him in death.

Norm retired from Winzeler’s Stamping Company in Montpelier in 2004 where he worked as a supervisor. He previously worked at Hayes-Albion Corporation in West Unity, Ohio until it closed in 1981 and at Mohawk Tools in Montpelier. He was the owner and operator of Norm’s Leather Shop for many years. Norm was a member of the Montpelier Moose and former member of the Saddle Club in Montpelier. He formerly attended the Church of Christ in Montpelier. Norm was an avid card player who loved hunting, fishing, horses and going to county fairs.

Norm is survived by his five children; Debbie Jackson of Bryan; Peggy (Tim) Osterhout of Frederick, Oklahoma; Janiece (Rodney) Stoy, Kenneth (Luann) Entrikin and Janet (Dave) Custer all of Montpelier; eighteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Geraldine Fite of Seattle, Washington; and daughter-in-law, Sharron Entrikin of Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beatrice “Bea” Bechtol; three sons, Eddie, Lowell and Lewis Entrikin; one brother, Ronald Bechtol; and son-in-law, Jerry Jackson.

Visitation for Norm will be on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Thompson-Geesey Funeral Home, Empire Street Chapel in Montpelier. Services will be on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Walter Hicks to officiate. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery on Burt Road in Ransom Township in Hillsdale County, Michigan. Donations may be made to American Cancer Society or The Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.
