Norris G. Merritt, age 83, of Wauseon, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Prior to his retirement he had been a truck driver for over 30 years.
Norris was born on June 18, 1933 in Lucedale, Mississippi, the son of Lawrence and Ella (Brady) Merritt. On June 2, 1958 he married Martha J. Doeherty, and she preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are two sons, Michael (Donita Smith) Merritt of Steubenville, Ohio and Cris Merritt of Wauseon. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Kelsey, Paige, and Kacy. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, Harry and Buck, and one sister, Polly.
Visitation for Norris will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, also at the funeral home, with Pastor Benjamin A. Sheaffer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery.
