The Ohio Department of Transportation reminds drivers to be prepared for inclement winter weather every year. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says driving with snow covering your windows, lights and license plate is illegal. According to Ohio Revised Code Section 4503.21, drivers cannot cover or obstruct the view of their license plate and validation stickers or temporary license registration. Anyone who violates any of these laws will be guilty of a misdemeanor. When it comes to snow and ice on top of a vehicle, it is legal until it comes off and damages another vehicle or injures another driver.
