The Ohio House of Representatives passed two bills this week concerning property tax reform that are hailed by supporters as major steps forward. House bills 186 and 335 were approved Wednesday by the Republican-dominated House by counts of 73-25 and 71-11, respectively. Both now go to the Ohio Senate for consideration. The new legislation would limit what school districts can generate from “inside” (unvoted) property tax millage by capping the rate of growth at inflationary levels.
