This Sunday, local golfers will celebrate a re-birth. Orchard Hills is reopening Sunday with limited services. A grand public re-opening celebration is now scheduled for August 15th.
The Bryan Times reports that the course will employ the same staff as when it was shut down due to crushing debt and a foreclosure that took effect earlier this year.
Rick Anderson bought the club by sealed bid in a private auction in February. He paid just over one million dollars for it and has since invested another $200,000.
Anderson says a consultant advised him to change the name, but he refused. It will always be Orchard Hills.
Although the course will remain the same, changes are on the drawing board for the clubhouse, and the bar won’t yet be open, although they’re working on that.
If you want to play Sunday, call ahead, 419–630-0111, and make a reservation.
