Oren Robert Mason “Bob”, 73, of Montpelier, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at his home. He was born on January 14, 1943 in Montpelier to Oren Ralph and Marjorie (Eager) Mason. He graduated from Montpelier High School in 1961.
Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany from 1964-1966. On October 24, 1970 in Hamler, OH he married Marvell M. Witte and she survives. Bob was a lifelong farmer and excavator. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and he loved his pets.
He is survived by his wife, Marvell Mason; two daughters, Paula (Scott) Ritter of Edgerton and Lori (Troy) Beck of Hudson, MI; six grandchildren, Thomas, Megan, Micah and Noelle Ritter and Destiny and Serenity Beck; three sisters, Mitzi Turner, Marsha Snyder and Sue (John) Seaman; and three brothers, Don, Chuck and Daniel George Mason.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Cameron Beck.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 18th from 2-6 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier. A funeral service will take place on Monday, December 19th at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rick Stiver to officiate. Military honors will be presented by the Montpelier Veterans. Donations may be given in memory of Bob to the Williams County Humane Society or the Williams County Conservation Club.
