Orval V. Rockey, age 90, of Bryan, Ohio, and formerly a longtime resident of Edon, Ohio, died at 2:55 A.M. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Community Hospitals Professionals Inpatient Hospice in Defiance, Ohio, after a brief illness. Mr. Rockey was a 1946 graduate of Edon High School, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Edon United Methodist Church, the Edon American Legion Post #662, the Edon Masonic Lodge #474 F&AM for over 60 years, was a lifelong farmer and an avid bowler for many years.
Orval V. Rockey was born on August 26, 1928, in Edon, Ohio, the son of Paul and Zella (Bauer) Rockey. He married his wife of nearly sixty-five years, Virginia A. Shaffer, on November 22, 1953, in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives.
Also surviving are his children, Victor (Donna) Rockey, of Auburn, Indiana, Pamela (Mark) Neighbor, of McDonough, Georgia, and Jeffery (Rebecca) Rockey of Edon; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one brother, Marvin Rockey, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Lorraine M. Rockey.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Edon United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Widdowson officiating with interment and grave side military rites in Edon Cemetery.
