Pete Mere, 75

Pete Mere, age 75, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 6:30 A.M. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, where he was a patient. A veteran of the United States Navy, Mr. Mere was employed as a truck driver with Air Products & Chemicals in Lima, Ohio, and John’s Towing in Bryan. He loved sports of all kinds that he shared with his grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye.

Pete Mere was born on September 30, 1942, in Huntington, New York, the son of Dennis and Margaret (Gilligan) Mere. He married the love of his life, Elaine Tschinkel, on August 6, 1965, in Commack, New York, and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Peter Mere, and his wife, Amy, who was the daughter he never had, of Centerville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Camryn and Anthony Mere; one sister, Margaret (James) Turano, of Huntington, New York, numerous nieces and nephews, including James (Cheryl) Turano, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Karen Pettit, of Manorville, New York; three sisters-in-law, Marilyn Harris, in Vermont, Alvina Adams, of St. James, New York, and Susan Devlin, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida; and a special friend, Monty Schwender, of Bryan.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from 2:00-6:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, Bryan. Services will follow at 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home with Deacon Dennis Jackson officiating.

Memorials are requested to Williams County Humane Society.
