Phyllis Heisler Griffin, 92, of Bryan, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Phyllis was born January 31, 1930, in Edgerton, Ohio, daughter of the late Clarence and Blanche (Haase) Heisler. She was a 1948 graduate of Farmer High School. She married Leo Bauerlein, and that marriage ended in divorce. Phyllis then married Brian Griffin in June 1982, and he preceded her in death on October 30, 1990. Phyllis worked for the United States Navy for 26 years, where she was the Director of Administration, retiring in 1987. She was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church, Edgerton. Phyllis enjoyed playing Bridge, painting birdhouses, reading, and gardening.
Surviving are two children, Rhonda Jean Bauerlein of San Diego, California, and Pete (Alice) Bauerlein of Ramona, California; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Joe) Macias of Orange County, California, and Katie (Darren) Muren of La Marque, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Finley Muren, Scarlett Macias, Sawyer Muren and Harper Macias; and several nieces and nephews, including Kathy (Dick) Bruce of Bryan, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Brian; one son, Jim Bauerlein; two sisters, Geraldine Richardson and Donna Fritz; and one brother, Wendell Heisler.
Graveside funeral services for Phyllis Heisler Griffin will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 17, 2022, in Farmer Cemetery, Farmer, Ohio, with Reverend Daniel Broaddus officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, Ohio 43506.
