Phyllis Henry, 93

Phyllis J. Henry, 93, of Montpelier passed away Sunday afternoon at Genesis Healthcare Center in Bryan.  She was born on September 4, 1920 in Edon, Ohio to John G. and Ethel May (Zimmerman) Boisher.  Phyllis graduated from Montpelier High School in 1938.  On December 31, 1946 she married Oscar K. Henry in Montpelier, and he preceded her in death on July 24, 2007.

Phyllis was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montpelier, where she belonged to the Prayer Sisters Circle, was a former Elder and was on the Altar Guild.  During World War II Phyllis contributed to the war efforts by working as a welder at Winzeler Stamping Company in Montpelier.  For a short time she worked as a toll collector on the Ohio Turnpike, and at Cobb’s Hardware in Montpelier.

She is survived by two sons, Jon (Mary) Henry of Phoenix, Arizona and William “Bill” (Brenda) Henry of Montpelier; one daughter Christie H. Allen of Montpelier; eight grandchildren, Mike, Peggy, Julie, Logan, Roy, Brooke, Seana and Michelle; ten great grandchildren; one son-in-law Mike Allen; and two sisters-in-law, Beverly Henry and Marcella Henry.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oscar, one brother John Boisher and one grandson Benjamin Henry.

Visitation for Phyllis will be on Wednesday October 25th from 4-8pm at the Thompson Funeral Home in Montpelier.  Services will be on Thursday at 11am at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Montpelier with Reverend David Tilly to officiate.  Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Montpelier.   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer’s disease Research or St. John’s Youth Group.
