Phyllis Joan “Jo” Heater, 83 years, of Paulding, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice, Defiance, with her family at her side. Jo was born March 11, 1932 in Paulding County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul and Delle (Johnston) Knisley. She was a 1949 graduate of Paulding High School. A devoted homemaker who went to extreme lengths to care for her family, Jo also worked as a press operator at Allied Moulded Products in Bryan for a number of years. She was a member of the Sherwood United Methodist Church as well as an Associate member of the Sherwood VFW Post 5665. Phyllis enjoyed watching her favorite television shows and going to Firekeepers Casino to play the slot machines.
Surviving are her four children, Gary (Ann) Heater of Ney, Ohio, Bruce Heater of Harlingen, Texas, Mary Elizabeth (Tim) Sibert of Paulding, Ohio and Larry (Lori) Heater of Delaware Bend, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amy (Scott) Heater of Ney, Ohio, Chasity Gentit-Flory of Defiance, Ohio, Jennifer (Zach) Heisler of Paulding, Ohio, Courtnie Heater of Paulding, Ohio and Chris Heater of Sherwood, Ohio; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Shirley Vance and her companion Harold Mills of Farmer, Ohio and Mary Lou Rennollet of Defiance, Ohio. Jo was preceded in death by her parents, former spouse, William “Bill” Heater, her companion, Wayne Royal, and two brothers-in-law, Gene Vance and Irv Rennollet.
Funeral services for Phyllis Joan “Jo” Heater will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2015 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood with Pastor George Alley officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Cemetery. Visitation for Jo will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until the time of her service at 1:00 pm Friday.
