The commissioners from Williams, Defiance, Henry and Fulton counties are now considering selling the Quadco Rehabilitation Center building in Stryker to Quadco. According to the Bryan Times, the decision to take a look at selling the property comes following recent rule changes from the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, which no longer allow county boards, such as the Williams County Board of Developmental Disabilities, to refer potential clients to services the county offers, such as Quadco, so as to not create a conflict-of-interest. That in turn, has caused Quadco to begin privatizing its operations, which in turn appears to be driving the effort by the four counties’ commissioners to discuss ownership status of the building, along with uses and expenses necessary to operate and maintain it. Leasing the building is an option, but selling it to Quadco appears to be more attractive to county leaders. A price and other factors still have to be figured out, and will be addressed at an upcoming meeting.
