Ray Wells, age 86, of Wauseon passed away early Monday August 29, 2016 at Heartland of Waterville. Prior to his retirement he had worked at General Motors Central Foundry in Defiance for 39 years. He was also a door to door salesman for Rawleigh Products in Defiance, Fulton, Williams and Henry Counties for many years.
Mr. Wells was born on June 30, 1930 in Putnum County, the son of the late Curtis Oakey and Blanche Marie (Noriot) Wells. He married the former Carroll S. McLaughlin and she preceded him in death in 2012. He was a member of the Pettisville Missionary Church, a Township Trustee for Ridgeville Township, a member of the American Legion, the Elks, Moose Lodge and the United Auto Workers Retirees Union. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his children; Jeff (Marcy) Wells of Ft. Wayne, IN, Greg (Jacque) Wells of Wauseon, Ron (Samantha) Wells of Wauseon; 15 grandchildren (including spouses); 9 great-grandchildren and a sister Gloria Arps of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers and one great-grandson, Landon Callahan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday September 3, 2016 at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon with Pastor Kent Norr and Rev. John Horning officiating. Interment will follow in the Pettisville Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
