As the new school year is set to get underway, the Ohio Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to watch out for stopped school buses on the roadways.
Drivers are cautioned to stop at least 10 feet back when approaching a school bus from either direction if it has it’s flashing lights on and extended arm out.
It’s something that the Highway Patrol takes very seriously. They say that from 2011 to 2013, more than 4,000 drivers in Ohio were convicted of failing to stop for a school bus that was picking up or dropping off passengers.
