76 year old Ward II rep­re­sen­ta­tive Larry Bryant sub­mit­ted his let­ter of res­ig­na­tion this week, stat­ing that he was step­ping down due to his age and some health issues.

Bryant has been on the coun­cil since 2008, and he was re-elected to a sec­ond four-year term in 2011. In his let­ter of res­ig­na­tion, Bryant told the other coun­cil mem­bers that he will stick around until a replace­ment is found.

Now, the job of find­ing the next Ward II coun­cil­man is under­way. Who­ever it is, will need to live in Defi­ance, and inter­views will begin soon.
