Richard E. “Dick” Roan, age 85, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 11:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice near Defiance, Ohio, after an extended illness. Mr. Roan was a 1948 graduate of Bryan High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era. He was employed by The Ohio Art Company in Bryan as a tool and die maker, retiring as supervisor of the model shop after forty years of service. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan for more than fifty years and had served on the building committee. Dick enjoyed working in his yard and fixing and maintaining things to perfection and for many years he enjoyed coaching Little League baseball in Bryan.
Richard E. Roan was born on May 14, 1930, in Bryan, the son of Olin and Ruth (Reed) Roan. He married Barbara A. Korte on September 7, 1957, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Allen (Lynette) Roan, of Tyler, Texas, Scott Roan, of Springfield, Illinois, and Jeff (Heidi) Roan, of Northville, Michigan; four grandchildren, Jennifer Holman, of Arlington, Texas, Andrew Roan, of Tyler, Texas, Elizabeth Boyd, of Wooster, Ohio, and David Roan, of Indianapolis, Indiana; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Bryce Holman; and one sister, Corrine Sines, of Bryan. He was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Roan.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 25, 2015, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bryan with Reverend Mary Beth Smith-Gunn officiating. Interment will follow in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan, with grave side military rites conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489.
