Robert A. Nichols, Sr., age 83, of Wauseon passed away February 21, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Toledo. Robert worked as a plant manager at Cargotec in Perrysburg for many years.
Robert was born January 9, 1938 in Swanton to the late Chester and Otha (Mohre) Nichols. On August 10, 1957, Robert married the love of his life Loretta Leach, who survives. Robert loved to drag race and would often visit Norwalk to enjoy drag racing. Robert was a proud Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts leader and enjoyed fishing and hunting racoons.
Surviving Robert besides his wife is his son, John (Jill) Nichols of Stryker; son, Kurt (Mary) Nichols; son, Steven (Jennifer) Nichols; son, Jeffery (Christina) Nichols of Wauseon; son, Don (Loretta) Nichols; and son, Robert (Avery) Nichols, Jr. of Toledo. He is also survived by his brother, Lester Nichols of Adrian, MI; brother, Carl Nichols of Flat Rock, MI; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Arthur Nichols and George Nichols; sisters Leonna Netcher, Alice Kienath, and Arlene Kelly; and granddaughter, Katie Nichols.
Per Robert’s wishes, there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in memory of Robert. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.grisierfh.com. Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
