Robert A. Carroll, age 68, of Wauseon, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice. Prior to his retirement he had been a lifelong area farmer. He was also an accountant with Penrod and George and also for 20/20 Custom Molded Plastics in Holiday City.
Robert was born in Fulton County on March 12, 1947, the son of Owen and Nora Jane (Vaughan) Carroll. On July 12, 1969 he married Paula J. Brashear, and she preceded him in death in 2011.
He was a member of the Wauseon Sons of the American Legion and the Wauseon Sons of the VFW. He was also a member of the Fulton County Soil and Water Conservation District, a past-president of the Ohio Federation of Soil and Water Conservation Districts, the Wauseon Jaycees, the Wauseon Elks Lodge, the Fulton County Farm Bureau, the Wauseon Homecoming, and had been elected into the Fulton County Agricultural Hall of Fame.
Surviving is son, David (Rebecca) Carroll of Wauseon; daughter, Natalie (Jeremy) Shirkey of Wauseon; grandchildren, Zachary, Megan and Jackson Carroll, Braden, Grayson and Ryan Shirkey; two sisters, Linda (Gene) Studer of Delta, Lisa (Glen) Aiken of Alpharetta, GA; and brother, Larry (Lorelei) Carroll of Wauseon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Paula, daughter, Tracey, and his parents.
Visitation for Robert will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 13, 2015 at North Clinton Mennonite Church, where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, with Pastor Brad Faler, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery. The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice or the American Red Cross. Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon has been entrusted with arrangements.
