Robert had a 45-year career in the plastics injection molding industry, working as an engineer, plant manager, and Vice President at companies in Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky. He cherished the memories of his international travels and the many friends he made along the way.
Bob was a University of Kentucky basketball fan, active in fantasy sports, and enjoyed boating and fishing at the lake, taking road trips, discovering new bicycle trails, and traveling the coasts of the United States. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his children and grandsons.
Surviving is his wife, Carla of Bryan; two sons, Joshua (Sarah Harkins) Ruihley of Ottawa, Canada, and Brody (Monisa) Ruihley of Oxford, Ohio; four grandsons, Liam, Silas, and Perry Ruihley of Oxford, Ohio, and Cameron Harkins-Ruihley of Ottawa, Canada; his brother, Gerald (Claudia) Ruihley; sister-in-law, Sharon (Steve) Marvin; father-in-law, Richard Newcomb; three nieces, Leslie (Amy Jones) Ruihley, Angie (Todd) Roth, Betsy (Mike) Vaughn and one nephew, Adam (Erica) Ruihley. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Kay; and one brother, Ronald Ruihley.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Graveside Committal Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 22, 2024, in Shiffler Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Bob requested that those planning an expression of sympathy consider memorial contributions be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Central Ohio Chapter cff.org/donate.
