Roger W. Schwader, 67 years, of Sherwood, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center, Defiance. Roger was born April 9, 1948 in Hicksville, Ohio, the son of Patricia (White) and the late William L. Schwader. He was a 1967 graduate of Ayersville High School. After graduation, Roger enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served on the U.S.S. Diamondhead, being discharged in October 1969. Roger began his working career at General Motors Central Foundry in Defiance. He also worked in construction. His most recent employment was with the Village of Sherwood where he recently retired. He was a member of the Evansport Fox Hunters Association. Roger enjoyed hunting, archery, camping and playing cards with his buddies, family and friends.
Surviving is his mother, Patricia Patterson of Sherwood; long-time companion, Colleen Fulton of Sherwood and her children, Jason (Stacie) Fulton of Sherwood, Bridget (Rex) Keezer of Paulding; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his father and all of his grandparents.
Visitation for Roger W. Schwader will be held Monday, October 19, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 230 East Elm Street, Sherwood, with funeral services to begin at 1:00 p.m. Monday. Military honors will be accorded by the Sherwood VFW Post 5565.
