Ronald D. Bernath, age 82, of Wauseon passed away early Sunday April 23, 2017 at the Defiance Area Inpatient Care Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. Prior to his retirement he had worked as a commercial plasterer in the Toledo area. He was a member of the former Commercial Plasterers Union Local 7.
Mr. Bernath was born on July 24, 1934 in Lucas County, Ohio the son of the late Dale and the late Anna (Finn) Bernath. On October 5, 1955 he married the former Joann Oden and she survives. Mr. Bernath enjoyed golfing and after golfing he enjoyed having coffee and sharing laughs with his good friends at McDonald’s. He was a member of the Hope Christian Fellowship Church near Wauseon. He very much enjoyed spending time with his dog, Rascal.
Surviving besides his wife; Joann is daughter; Jodi (Tony) Ferretti of Sylvania, son; Rod (Hildy) Bernath of Ocala, FL, grandchildren; Todd (Lisa) Taylor, Marissa (Nathan) Appel-Hoffman, Sean (Summer) Bernath, and Brandi (Jeff) Bernath-Disantis. Also surviving is sister Gale Turner. Preceding him in death besides his parents was grand-daughter; Katie Appel, brothers; Darryl Bernath and Dale Bernath and sister; Geraldine Frank.
A memorial service will be held at the Hope Christian Fellowship Church at 6:00pm, Monday May 1, 2017 with Pastor Donna Stutzman officiating where the family will receive friends starting at 5:00pm. A time of fellowship will follow the service. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the church. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.GriserFH.com.
