SALES TAX INCREASES

Ohio con­sumers, as of Sun­day, began pay­ing a few pen­nies more on their pur­chases.

An increase in Ohio sales tax took effect on Sun­day, Sept. 1 for the first time since July 1, 2005.

The state sales tax increased from 5.5 per­cent to 5.75 per­cent with the increase that was passed along with the state’s bien­nial bud­get at the end of June.
