Sandra Lee Bernath, 61

Sandra Lee “Nana” Bernath, 61, of Montpelier passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 21, 2024 surrounded by her loving wife and daughters.  She was born on April 6, 1962 in Morenci, Michigan to Shirley (Rod Ely) Wentz and Loyal Bernath.  Sandy graduated from Fayette High School in 1980.  She is survived by her wife and soulmate Rhonda Jo Bailey.  They started their relationship nearly 29 years ago and were married on June 19, 2020.

Sandy was a very hard working and devoted employee for the past 43 years, working for several businesses in the area.  Sandy’s favorite happy place was Sunny’s Campground in Wauseon, Ohio.  She enjoyed her grandkid’s sporting events and was never late.  Sandy was also a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.

She is survived by her wife Rhonda; loving daughters Torrey (Jason) Dohner, and Tiffany Ann (Shawn Ward) Bernath; step children Austin (Erin) Bailey and Andie (Tim) Hill; nine grandchildren Jarron, Koner, Joel, Tayla, Brooklyn, Chase, Bailyn, Charlotte, and Jensen; five siblings Steve, Ronnie, Julie, Penny and Debbie and her dog companion Gracie Mae.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Shannon and nephews Brandin and Damien.

A time to receive friends will be held at the Thompson Funeral Home on Main Street in Montpelier on Friday, January 26, 2024 from 3-7pm.  A celebration of life will be held this summer at Sunny’s Campground in Wauseon, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sandy’s grandchildren in care of Rhonda.
