Sensory Effects Fire In Defiance

An explo­sion Fri­day at Sen­sory Effects in Defi­ance sent two peo­ple to the hos­pi­tal.

It hap­pened around 4:30 Fri­day after­noon inside the West High Street plant, when a dryer caught fire accord­ing to employ­ees.

Shane Span­gler suf­fered burns and was taken to ProMed­ica Defi­ance Hos­pi­tal, and then flown to Mercy St. Vin­cent Med­ical Cen­ter in Toledo for fur­ther treat­ment.

Accord­ing to a press release from Sen­sory Effects, Spangler’s injuries are not life threat­en­ing.

Another employee was taken to ProMed­ica and treated for smoke inhala­tion. That employee has since been released from the hos­pi­tal.

The cause of that Fri­day after­noon blaze is still under inves­ti­ga­tion by the Ohio Fire Marshal’s Office.
