Sheila Foster passed away in the early morning hours of July 12, 2022 attended by her family.
Sheila had a rich and full life that was punctuated by tremendous personal loss. She weathered the loss of her parents at a very young age and was raised by her maternal aunt. During her life she lost a husband and two sons but still achieved success in her personal life and career. She never lost her zest for life and was always optimistic.
Following her husband’s death, she went to work at Miami Dade Community College as a file clerk in the Admissions Office. She took classes at night after work and earned her associate’s degree while slowly moving up at the school. She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Florida International University in Criminal Justice that led to a position at the Institute of Criminal Justice at Miami Dade that she held until she retired.
Her resilience and perseverance were rooted in her deep and abiding faith in God. She loved her church and she loved her family. Nothing made her happier than a family gathering for Sunday dinner. She was a wonderful role model and teacher and was universally loved. She will be sorely missed.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father, John Francis Murphy; mother, Mary (Ennis) Murphy; her sister, Ann Pastorelli; her brother, John Francis Murphy; her aunt, Catherine Davis; her husband, Charles Sanders Foster; her sons, Charles Paul Foster and Stephen Andrew Foster. Sheila is survived by her son, Timothy S. (Cheryl) Foster and nieces, Mary Ann (Larry) Liesner, Paula Pastorelli (Ron) Schooler and Donna Urban.
A celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at a later date in Miami.
