Shirley Ann Watson, 86 years, of West Unity, passed away Monday, July 31, 2017 at Fairlawn Haven, Archbold, where she had been a resident. Shirley was born August 27, 1930 in West Unity, the daughter of the late G. Fred and Cora W. (Gunter) Montondo. She was a 1948 graduate of West Unity High School. Shirley married Kenneth L. Watson on December 31, 1952 in Angola, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on February 26, 1998. She was a waitress at the former Kaufman Restaurant in Bryan for over 15 years. She attended the West Unity United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Three Arts Club as well as the West Unity American Legion Post 669 Ladies Auxiliary. Shirley loved to garden and tend to her flowers and plants. She also found enjoyment in traveling, reading, bowling and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her three children, Kenneth (Chick) Watson, Jr. of West Unity, Frederick (Theresa) Watson of McClure and Rachel Watson of West Unity; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth; one son, Alan R. Watson; infant sister, Geraldine Montondo and one brother, Robert Montondo.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 in Shiffler Cemetery, rural Bryan with Pastor Greg Coleman officiating. There will not be any visitation. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, West Unity.
