Shirley D. Buehrer, 76 years, of Bryan, passed away, Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Genesis HealthCare-Bryan Center, Bryan, Ohio, where she had been a resident. Shirley was born December 29, 1936 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of Leslie and Cora D. Spooner. She was then adopted by her grandparents, Charlie R. and Eva Young. She was a graduate of Three Rivers High School, Three Rivers, Michigan. She married John Buehrer on December 22, 1959, and he preceded her in death on December 4, 1993. Shirley worked at Hardees’s Restaurant. She had also worked in the mail room at the Bryan Times, and at Brownies Restaurant. Shirley also served as a crossing guard at Bryan High School. She was a member of Lick Creek Church of the Brethren as well as the Sweet Adeline’s.
Surviving is her daughter, Shianna Buehrer of Bryan; her sister, Larita Penn of Independence, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Buehrer of Edgerton; one great niece, Sandy Gigax of Archbold as well as her friend, Roberta Dell of Bryan.
Visitation for Shirley D. Buehrer will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home – Greenisen Chapel, 225 East High Street, Bryan, Ohio. Funeral services for Shirley will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013 in the funeral home with Pastors Nancy Berkheiser and Dorothy Ritchey-Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Brown Cemetery, Bryan, Ohio.
