Shirley M. Ridgway, 79, of Bryan passed away Sunday at her home. She was born on October 9, 1935 in Bryan to Raymond W. and Wava M. (Eck) Nickels. Shirley graduated from Bryan High School in 1953. She married James A. Ridgway and he preceded her in death in January 1999.
Shirley was a waitress for most of her life. She worked at the former Everhart Restaurant in Bryan for many years. For the past 16 years she was the manager for the Bryan Mobile Home Court on North Union Street in Bryan.
She is survived by one son, Denver A. Ridgway of Montpelier; one daughter Brenda (Kevin) Powers of Fayette; eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce (Tom) Carr of Hicksville and Kathy L. Carver of Montpelier; and one brother Robert (Mary) Nickels of Edgerton.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husband James, one daughter Karen M. Barrera and one brother Marvin Nickels.
Visitation for Shirley will be on Saturday, June 20th from 11am-1pm at the Thompson-Geesey Funeral Home on Empire Street in Montpelier. Services will be on Saturday at 1pm at the funeral home with Reverend David Tilly to officiate. Interment will follow at Shiffler Cemetery in rural Bryan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williams County Humane Society.
