Sijifredo A. Canales, 82 years, of Bryan, passed away in his home, Monday, December 19, 2016 with his family at his side. Sijifredo was born April 26, 1934 in Salineno, Texas, the son of the late Fernando and Librada (Garcia) Canales. He married Gloria Montez on August 6, 1960 in Bryan, Ohio, and she survives. Sijifredo was the owner and operator of Canales Body Shop in Defiance and also in Corsicana, Texas retiring in 2009. After his retirement, he became a greeter at Walmart. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Corsicana, Texas. He enjoyed working on cars, making sure even the smallest detail was perfect, working hard, and visiting with his friends. He treasured the time he spent with his family.
Surviving is his wife, Gloria of Bryan; two children, Mary (Daniel) Lenz of Bryan and Alex Canales also of Bryan; two grandchildren, Mitchell (Hillary) Molina of Fayette and Crystal Molina of Arlington, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Xavier, Alyias and Ezekiel Molina and Gabriel Lawrence; five sisters, Elva Canales of Napoleon, Yolanda Susitia of Auburn, Indiana, Jennie Bates of Columbus, Ohio, Peggy (Carlos) Marroquin of Toledo and Mary (Mike) Sanchez of Defiance; one brother, Able (Evelyn) Canales of Onaway, Michigan.
There will be no visitation and graveside services will be held at a later date in Riverview Memory Gardens, Defiance. Arrangements are under the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan.
