Spangler Out Sweetheart In As NECCO Deal Closes

Spangler Candy announced on Friday the Bryan-based company will not be purchasing the New England Confectionery Company after all. Sweetheart Candy Co., owned by Dean, Evan and Daren Metropoulos, is identified as the buyer. Spangler officials say. NECCO could not meet multiple conditions under Spangler’s purchase agreement. NECCO then decided to sell to the next highest bidder…Sweetheart.
